The January/February 2017 number 91 issue of Model Car Racing magazine is here with over 40 new cars, new race tracks, tips on buying the best digital racing system and more.

MCR91 Model Car Racing Magazine, January/February 2017 (C)

There is a “best” brand of digital because it is the only one that allows you to run analog cars, as well as digital with the push of a button. There is a detailed explanation of the strange phenomenon of the “mag” motors that add to the cars’ magnetic downforce and increase cornering speed. There are full reports on the prototypes’ racing background, specifications and the performance and details of the 1/32 scale models of the 1967 Lola T70 Mk.III, 1990 BMW M3 E30 BTTC, 1994 Alfa Romeo 155 Ti DTM, 2000 Audi R8 LeMans, 2012 SRT Viper GTS-R, 2014 MG6 BTCC, 2014 Mercedes AMG Petronas WO4 Formula 1, 2015 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 and 2015 NASCAR Chevrolet SS. There are plans so you can assemble a 2-Lane version of the 2-Lane Valencia Circuit on a 5 x 9-foot and on a 12 x 16-foot tabletop using snap-together plastic track. There is also a racetrack plan for an HO scale AFX 4-Lane Valencia Circuit on a 4-x8 foot tabletop.

Scalextric C3694A British Touring Car Champs 2014& 2015 BMW 125 Series 1 &Honda Civic-PRE-ORDER NOW!

The 2014 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) was decided on the last day of racing at the famous Brands Hatch Circuit in Kent, UK. Driver Colin Turkington, in his eBay Motors BMW, had to overcome the challenge put forward by MG’s Jason Plato, who just happened to be the most successful BTCC driver in history! The impressive one two from Plato and Tordoff wasn’t enough as Turkington secured the victory.

The 2015 BTCC season ended with Scottish driver Gordon Shedden claiming the title in dramatic fashion after one of the most exciting races of the season. In front of a record crowd of 42,000, the Honda Yuasa Racing driver had to finish the race in 6th place to secure the title. Working his way through the pack from 19th position, Shedden managed to grab enough points to push race winner Jason Plato into second place overall. The exhilarating end to the race was a fantastic way to see out another great season and really exemplifies the high octane racing that is typical in the BTCC.

Scalextric C3741 Ford XC Falcon – 1978 Bathurst 1000—PRE-ORDER NOW!

Driver: Allan Moffat & Jacky Ickx

Pushing for more television time, the 1978 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 saw the introduction of the Hardies Heroes Top 10 runoff for pole position. Rain in the morning meant the track was damp during the first run, which was certainly reflected in the times. That was until Allan Moffat went out and, ignoring the puddles, ran a time six seconds faster than anyone else (while hitting 159 mph on Conrod Straight).

Moffat was eventually pushed back to third and, unfortunately, the race didn’t go as planned. Allan was forced to retire on lap 81, allowing rival Peter Brock to take the victory. Digital Plug Ready

Scalextric C3696 Legends Ford XY GT-HO Falcon, 1972 Bathurst—PRE-ORDER NOW!

Rain was very much the theme for the 1972 Bathurst. John Goss sat behind the wheel of the Ford Falcon and, in practice, set the fastest lap time before blowing an engine. On the race day, with the engine changed, the rain continued to pour, which was unfortunate for the Falcons as they were not suited to driving in wet conditions. As the rain eased a dry line started to appear. Goss pushed the Falcon to its limit and started to close the gap to the cars ahead. Luck though, was not on Goss’s or the Falcon’s side when on lap 24 the strain on the car got too much and the engine blew for a second time.
