C3614 Scalextric Mercury Cougar XR7 Trans-Am- Moffat

In the 1967 Trans Am season, Allan Mann’s win at the non-championship Watkins Glen Manufacturers Challenge in a privateer Mustang convinced Mercury, owned by Ford, competitions boss Fran Hernandez that he was capable against such drivers as Mark Donohue, Jerry Titus and Parnelli Jones. Allan successfully tested for Bud Moore Engineering who was contracted to run the Mercury race team. Team cars were painted red and silver, but in deference to Allan’s Aussie background, his Cougar was green and gold. Moffat competed in the Modesto, California, Mission Bell 250 at Riverside, the Las Vegas 350 and the Kent 300 in Washington. The Cougars lost the title to Mustang. The Cougar racing effort was terminated and Bud Moore went back to fielding NASCARs. Not surprisingly, Ford didn’t like the idea of spending a lot of money trying to beat itself! Even so, the Mercury Cougar is a highly respected and loved American muscle car.

Limited Edition: 4,000 pieces Jacky Ickx’s Brabham BT26-3 shared the second row with Jochen Rindt’s Lotus 72 at the 1969 French Grand Prix. Ickx took second place for most of the race under pressure from Beltoise. On the last lap Ickx dropped and finished third at the flag, improving on his 4th place starting position. Jacky Ickx won the German GP in a BT26-4 and the Canadian GP in a BT26-3. He finished second in the World Championship to Jacky Stewart, but beat Stewart whenever the Brabham was on form.

Steve Neal, father of BTCC driver Matt Neal, regularly raced in 1968 and 1969 in a Morris Mini Cooper in the BSCC (British Saloon Car Championship – the fore-runner of BTCC). After racing for the Cooper Car Co., Neal gained a seat in a two-car Morris Mini Cooper S team in 1969.
