Just for fun:
You may remember that sometime back we showed you this project we were working on:
Originally we were going to build it on a Monogram/MRRC Sebring chassis. However, during the recently completed Slot Car Challenge 2 we noticed that the chassis from the Fly Joest-Porsche, used by several of the contest entrants, has considerable potential as a kitbash platform. So, we started playing around with one and came up with a whole new chassis for our vintage Aurora McLaren M12 body. Here it is:
The chassis has been narrowed and shortened to fit the McLaren body. We CA glued the motor pod, modified to take a Scalextric or Professor Motor bar magnet, into the chassis. The white bits in the chassis are pieces of Evergreen styrene glued in to reinforce the joint where we shortened the chassis. Before final assembly of the car we will paint the whole chassis in a semi-gloss black. The wheels and front tires are from a Monogram Greenwood Corvette. The rear tires are Indy Grips 1305s. The wheels look quite good on a CanAm car. We’ll have more updates in upcoming issues of this newsletter.
