In 1981 Rondeau entered 5 cars; 3 “new” M379Cs in category 6 and 2 in the GTP category to put his 1980 title back into play.
Car #25 was sponsored by Calberson, regular partner of the event, who joined forces with RTL for the livery. Jean-Louis Lafosse abandoned his role as manager of Gotti (wheel manufacturer) and teamed up with driver Jean Ragnotti.
Unfortunately, despite working his way up to 3rd place after an hour of racing, Jean-Louis Lafosse hit the rail at Hunaudières and was killed instantly.
