HISTORY
The Aston Martin DBR1 is a legendary model of the English brand. It is to date the only victory of the brand at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Three DBR1 teams entered the race that year, with the #4 car of Moss and Fairman taking a quick lead and acting as the bait to force the powerful Ferraris into a fast pace that would break them. The strategy ultimately proved successful, with the Ferrari's dropping out of the race after mechanical issues. The waiting Aston Martins of Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori (#5) took first place, followed closely by Maurice Trintignant and Paul Frere (#6) in second.
