The final round of the 2004 Japanese GT Championship (JGTC) was held at Suzuka Circuit on November 21st. Although carrying 120kg of weight handicap, Xanavi NISMO Z (#1, Satoshi Motoyama / Richard Lyons) started from 11th position and finished 7th, winning the overall driver's championship for 2004. The NISMO team (#1 and #22) had already won the team championship during the previous round, completing a double victory for the team in its debut season for the Z cars in the GT500 class
