The Slot.it 'M' Modular crown gears are the newest in gear technology. They are composed of three basic pieces - a new insert with non-threaded hole, a lock ring to keep the shaft in place, and steel washers that act as a bearing, free to rotate independently from each other and from the mutual movement of the crown and the shaft, nicely floating on a layer of oil. This design does take some extra assembly, but results in less friction, less wear, and more gear ratios from the same crown.

During assembly, make sure of the following:

     1. There must be two washers between the shaft and the lock ring.

     2. The grub screw must go all the way through to the shaft.

     3. Put a drop of performance oil on the two washers.

The washer on the gear side is optional.
