A bit of history... In 1964 Enzo Ferrari was having a row with the FIA over the homologation of one of his cars. When the FIA refused to see things his way, he "withdrew" his cars from Formula One. Well, sort of. What he actually did was transfer the cars on paper to NART, the racing team of his North American importer. Since the cars were then being campaigned by an American team rather than an Italian one, their red paint was replaced by American white and blue for the rest of the 1964 season. And that's how it happened that John Surtees won the 1964 World Championship in a blue and white Ferrari, the only F1 championship ever won by a Ferrari driver in anything but a red car.
