Limited Edition of only 1000 produced.
Working in partnership with Hornby, the Coventry City of Culture Trust created this special-edition Scalextric car to celebrate Coventry's year as the City of Culture 2021.
Based on a 1980s Jaguar XJ-S manufactured in the city, made famous by Tom Wilkinshaw Racing (TWR) in 1984 when it won the European Touring Car Championship. Manufacturing started on the original car in 1975 from Jaguar's Browns Lane plant in the city.
This 1/32 scale slot car model is emblazoned with the distinctive Coventry City of Culture branding. A bird's eye view of the car reveals the letters, C, O and V, with arrows on the wings and doors to mirror the city's forward momentum. It also includes references to Coventry's Two-Tone culture and its transport heritage, with black and white tiles on the side and a spoked wheel emblem figuring as the O in “Cov”. The number plate also reads COV 2021.
