The light bridge is the sensor that activates the lap counter. Photocells in the bottom part of the unit, under the track, receive a light beam from LEDs in the upper part. When a car passes through the light bridge it breaks the light beam for its lane, causing the lap counter to record another lap completed and also record the time for that lap. All DS 4-lane light bridges come wired with a cable and plug for connecting to the DS200 or DS300 unit.
This light bridge is adjustable for use with all currently produced 1/24 and 1/32 scale plastic track systems. It can also be used with 60s vintage plastic tracks systems, some 1/43 and HO scale systems and 2-lane routed tracks.
Features:
New reinforced structure.
New reverse sensor allowing use on all track systems (7.8 - 10cm slot distances).
Extra border extensions supplied for narrow tracks.
Supplied completely assembled and ready to plug in.
Compatible with DS200 and DS300 lap counters.
Using DS light bridges with a PC-based timing and scoring system:
DS light bridges are durable and reliable sensor devices. Theoretically, they can be used with any kind of timing and scoring system provided you have the means of connecting them properly. They come with an industry-standard plug and are pre-wired to route all the input to the right place in a DS lap counter/timer unit. Provided that you have the means to determine which pin carries what on the DS light bridge's plug and can connect it to your PC-based system properly, it should work fine, as it functions the same as a sensor assembly you might build up from individual components. Always check to see if voltage in the system you are using is in the correct range for any DS components you are using. They will usually work fine on 10 to 14 volts. Be careful, however, as a wrong connection can damage the light bridge, and neither Electric Dreams nor DS can guarantee the reliability of any DS item used with with any other system.
