A slot car racing “young gun”.
Dylan Lambert is 9 years old and started racing slot cars about 2 years ago. He started with a standard Scalextric Sport track and 4 cars. Now he has over 40 feet of racetrack, two 12′ straightaways, Parma controllers, garages, grandstands, and 67 cars. Dylan’s grandfather was a race car driver and Dylan has become a very good racer as well as having knowledge about every car in his collection. Asked what he likes most about slot car racing, Dylan said, “Each car handles different like real race cars so I have to learn each one. I also like showing off my car collection to all my friends!” Dylan’s father had slot cars in the 60’s and supports his passion for speed. “Dylan may only be 9 but he shows incredible knowledge and appreciation for the cars, maintains them and polishes them with care. I am really proud of him”, says Scott, his father.
Will we see him in a Formula One car about 2023?
Here’s Dylan’s track. Note the loop running down the hallway. We can see it running in and out of every room in the house before long…at least that’s what we would have wanted to do when we were Dylan’s age. Wonder if he has a cat or a dog that chases the cars around the track. Or would it be the cars doing the chasing?
